Meet The Designer: Marg Talbi

Marg designed and created her own clothes from age 12 encouraged by her creative embroiderer mother. A love of dance influenced by visits to ballet performances and a passion for Paris after walking across Le Pont Neuf with her father aged 8.

These early French influences led to living and working in Paris, France and in 2003 launched her first collection after a family and a teaching career in fashion and design –  but always remaining passionate about creating fashion.

Her recent achievements include representing Australia as a fashion designer: Dubai International Fashion Trade Fair, 2018 Paris 2017 Salon Internationale de la Lingerie and Hong Kong  Centrestage 2016.  Prior Paris Fashion Week Prêt à Porter 2003 and 2006,  2005 sponsored by Malaysia Tourism to show in Kuala Lumpur, Asia Fashion Week  after being spotted exhibiting at Australian Fashion Week Sydney 2004. Exhibited at Singapore Fashion Week 2006 Sponsored by SA Trade and Export with export grants for a fashion salon at the Ritz Carlton Hotel .

The Looks

Sensual, chic, feminine, flattering, wearable pieces for private clients. An outfit or garment to make the wearer feel special. Private orders from clients desiring an original design that will flatter them in quality fabrics and colours with a meticulous cut.

Specialises in bespoke/custom made, resortwear including bridal dresses and unique swimwear. Her swimwear and resort range was  requested in 2018, Dubai for 2000 pieces by a company buyer in the region but the designer prefers not to mass produce.

Ready To Wear

A versatile resort wear collection with a European influence. A range of garments including bikinis, wraps , culottes, skirt and dresses for holiday activities including weddings.

Resort wear range inspired by the colours and contrasts of the Australian landscape. The colours of the outback. The fierce desert. Amazing ocean with its beaches Tropical rainforest with stunning water flowers. Other inspiration: dance and its movement, cultural contrasts and stirring emotions. A versatile resort wear collection with a European influence.

Exclusive globally resourced sustainable fabrics : silks, linens and cottons with blends that enhance fibre characteristics. The designer enhances some designs with vintage touches, hand embellishment including embroidery, hand painting and digital printing.



Exhibited her latest Resort Fashion Collection at International Salon de la Lingerie, Port de Versailles, Paris France. Several of her garments featured in fashion runway shows each day with other designers. 2016 -2021
Sourcing latest fabrics at International Textile Exhibitions.   Launch of new label Tropice La Mode Online Store. Creation of new Resort wear Collection for 2018 Summer including Couture designs. Featured  her new Fashion Collection a mix of ready to wear and couture dresses at International Salon de la Lingerie 2017 Opened new fashion salon in Stirling, Adelaide Hills April 2017 selling Ready to Wear and designing bespoke and couture garments for private clients

2009 – 2021  Designing and making bespoke and couture fashion garments for private clients

2004- 2011
Exhibiting artist for SALA. Designed traditional costume for Belgian Honorary Consul, she received an Award for the Best Dressed

2007 – 2012
Opened her first showroom in Adelaide Arcade. Designing high end fashion for private clients and selling ready to wear.

Exhibited at The Source May, Mercedes Fashion Week, Sydney. Celebratory Charity Fashion show 5th year in Adelaide Arcade showroom.

2006 – Exhibited at Singapore Fashion Week including runway Fashion show.

  • Spring / Summer collections 06/07 at Prêt A Porter, Paris
  • Presented a Fashion Salon, Ritz Carlton Hotel, Dubai, Arab Emirates to expatriates. Lisa, wife of Emirates Airlines Deputy President  chose designs later worn at Emirates Melbourne cup and meeting PM of NZ .

2005 – Exhibited at Preview for High End Labels, Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, Sydney Fashion Week
– Sponsored by Malaysian Tourism & Mercedes International Fashion Awards to exhibit as an Australian designer.

  • WGSN – Published in online Fashion Trends Magazine after showing at Kuala Lumpur – Asia Fashion Week

2002 – 2003
Completed Fashion Marketing Course – Paris Fashion Institute then worked in Paris for Designer Louanna Haseltine.

Exhibited as an Australian designer first Resort Fashion collection Pret A Porter, Portes de Versailles, Paris, France.
